We work with local Tobacco-Free Coalitions to implement tobacco control programs among youth, adults and communities across the state.
The Mississippi State Department of Health's Office of Tobacco Control funds the Mississippi Tobacco-Free Coalitions (MTFCs), a robust network of 34 coalitions that span all 82 counties of the state. These community-based coalitions are dedicated to reducing tobacco use through comprehensive grassroots programs. Their initiatives focus on preventing youth from starting to use tobacco, reducing exposure to secondhand smoke, promoting cessation services and addressing tobacco-related disparities. Working in partnership with schools, faith-based organizations, community groups, businesses and health advocacy organizations, the MTFCs provide vital education and resources. Additionally, they assist Mississippi municipalities in adopting comprehensive smoke-free ordinances, enhancing community health and wellness.
